The YPG Mentorship Series January

The APA LA Young Planners Group is proud to continue its Mentorship Series, which are small intimate gatherings between new planners and some of LA's most experienced, progressive planning professionals! These events will provide new planning professionals an opportunity to ask questions, gain some helpful advice, and learn from the experience of these amazing mentors!

Our January mentor will be David Mieger who is the Deputy Executive Officer for Westside Planning at Los Angeles County MTA. He is presently serving as Project Director for the Westside Subway Extension and supervises a staff of 9 planners. He coordinates Metro capital planning projects in the Westside of Los Angeles County; including the cities of Los Angeles, Beverly Hills, Culver City, Malibu, Santa Monica and West Hollywood.

His responsibilities include the management of major transit capital projects from inception through preliminary engineering and environmental clearance. These projects have ranged in value from under $100 million to over $5 billion. The studies are generally undertaken by a multi-disciplinary team of METRO staff and consultants, in coordination with local agencies and elected bodies. The studies result in a recommendation to the METRO Board of Directors, which is the responsible agency for project approval and funding. When: Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at 6:30 P.M. (formal discussion at 7 P.M) Where: TBA Downtown LA
