The YPG Mentorship Series
The APA LA Young Planners Group Mentorship Series is a six-month series of intimate gatherings between new planners and some of LA's most experienced, progressive planning professionals. These events will provide attendees an opportunity to ask questions, gain helpful advice, and learn from the experiences of these amazing mentors.
We would like to thank our August mentor, Steve Preston, FAICP, City Manager for the City of San Gabriel, and all who attended and made it a memorable event!
Our September mentor will be Amy Bodek, AICP, Director of Development Services for the City of Long Beach. As director of the city's newly-expanded Development Services Department, she oversees its planning, building, redevelopment, housing and neighborhood services functions. Bodek previously served as manager and executive director of the Long Beach Redevelopment Agency. She has worked for the City of Long Beach since 1992, when she began her career in its Management Assistant Program. Her background is in design, urban planning, redevelopment and real estate transactions.

Young Planners Group Volunteer Programs
The LA APA Young Planners Group is now providing opportunities for our members to donate their time to worthy causes! Please join us in participating in one of three beach cleanups for Heal the Bay, a nonprofit, environmental organization dedicated to keeping Southern California’s coastal waters clean and safe. This will be a fun way to get outside and get some sun, meet other new planning professionals, and donate your time to a worthy cause! Please contact Jennifer Arizala at mJennifer@moore-associates.net for information on how to participate for any of the following three cleanups at Santa Monica Beach, Tower 1550:
