LA APA Young Planners Group Programs

Young Planners Group Mentorship Series

The APA LA Young Planners Group is proud to kick off its Mentorship Series, which will be a 6 month series of small, intimate gatherings between new planners and some of LA's most experienced, progressive planning professionals! These events will provide new planning professionals an opportunity to ask questions, gain some helpful advice, and learn from the experience of these amazing mentors!

We would like to thank our July Mentor, Susan Healy Keene, AICP, Community Development Director for the City of Beverly Hills, and to all who attended and made it a memorable event!

Our August Mentor will be Steve Preston, FAICP, City Manager for the City of San Gabriel. During his career with the city of San Gabriel, he has overseen award winning efforts in the areas of general plan development, design, and planning for sustainability. Steve has served as the President of APA’s California Chapter and received the APA’s Distinguished Service Award in 2000. He is also a part-time lecturer in the graduate planning programs at USC and Cal Poly Pomona and has served as a co-chair for the past five years of the UCLA Extension Land Use Law Conference.

We will be capping attendance at each mentorship event to 15 people in order to facilitate conversation with our mentors. Please go to http://tiny.cc/augustYPG to RSVP and we will contact you once selected! If we have reached our capacity of 15 people for this event, we will contact you for your availability to attend futre mentorship events or in case there are any last minute cancellations.
